Øvre Årdal er den største av to tettstadar i Årdal kommune Det bur ca 4700 mennesker her.Hovednæringa er industri.Her ligg Årdal metallverk,ein del av Norsk Hydro
Øvre Årdal er omkransa av ein storfelt natur,med fjell rundt om på alle kantar.Øvre Årdal er inngangsporten til Utladalen landskapsvern område ein del av Jotunheimen nasjonalpark .Det kan nevnast at 16 av fjella her har ein høgde over 2,000m.o.h. Vil spesielt anbefala fjellvegen til Turtagrø med storstilt utsikt til Hurrungane.Vegen går over 1400m.o.h

Øvre Årdal is the larger of the two rural centers in Årdal.It lives approximately 4700 inhabitants here .The main industri is Hydro aluminium plant,one off the largest in Europa with some 800 employees.In addition,some smaller companies manufacture metal and plastic products.Øvre Årdal is sorrounded by large mountains and here you find the gateway to Utladalen Landskapsvernområde and the Jotunheimen mountain plateau.Approximately 16 off the mountains here is higher than 2000 meters.We will spesialy mention the mountain road to Turtagrø with a magnifient view to the Hurrungane alps-The road goes up to 1400 meter and is off good standard
