Br.3

The name was written Mittwnn 1522, Mitthun 1563, 1603, 1611, Mitun 1666, And Midthun 1723. This name is easy to understand, it means the farm in the middle. Let us start with the users. In 1522 we find Jon here, in 1563 we find Bjørn here, and from early 1600 we find Einar here. Then in 1624 we find Ola here, Håkon until 1630, Knut in 1640. Then we find Sven here, from 1641 til at least 1682. Sven was from Hæreid. In 1684 we find Ola Løenson Hestetun here. He was here until 1706. Then came an Tore here, and finaly we find Kristoffer Årebru here. In 1725 This farm became the Kings property and was used by the copper mill. In 1768 it all was sold , and there were two bayers. Jon Rasmusson Åbøle bought one part, and Otto Person Fåberg the other. In 1769 Jon split his part into two separate parts, and sold one to his brother-in-law, Nils Aslakson Nundal, so there where three "Bruks" here. We continue with br.3.This was half the farm in 1768. As we have told before, Otto Person Fåberg bought this in 1768. Otto was born in 1739 and had been a teacher before he started as a farmer. Otto had this farm for two years before he moved back to Luster, where he died in 1804. He sold this farm to Kristen Torleivson Haganes, also from Luster in 1770. Kristen was born in 1709 and died in 1764. He was married in 1746 to Martha Johannesdtr Søvde. They had three children. Their son Johannes got this farm in 1778. Johannes was born in 1755. He was not married, and perhaps that is the reason for that in 1787, he split this farm into two parts, br 3 and br 4 and sold this part to Nils Holsæter and br 4 to Eirik Olson Ve. We continue with br.3. Nils sold this to Åmund Hermundson Bremborg. Åmund was born in 1725 and married to Martha Sjursdtr. She died in 1753 and Åmund married again with Brita Larsdtr Geithus in 1760. They had 7 children. Hermund got this farm. Hermund Åmundson was born in 1761 and married in 1793 with Johanna Kristensdtr Midtun. Hermund and Johanna had three children. Hermund died in 1840 and Johanna in 1737. Their son Åmund got this farm. Åmund Hermundson was born 1798 and married in 1823 with Agathe Olsdtr Moen. Åmund died in 1833, leaving behind his widow and 4 children. Åmund had sold this farm in 1828 to the sheriff at that time, Eirik Anderson Seim. Eirik was born in 1775 and was married twice. He had 12 children, and one of his daughter from the second marriage later got this farm. Eirik died in 1845 and Matias Tomasson Øvstetun then bought this farm. Matias had this until 1862 when he died. His son Tomas then got this. Tomas Matiasson was born in 1818 and married to Anna Eiriksdtr Midtun in 1842. Tomas died in 1884, Anna in 1858. They had 11 children. Their son Eirik then got this farm. Eirik Tomasson was born in 1852 and married to Synneva Eiriksdtr Holsæter in 1897. They had 4 children. Today this farm no longer exist, but a grandchild of them owns most of the land and lives on a place here.
